Start with the kind of booking you need

A community center or community hall is often hired as a space for an event, with seating and other facilities provided by the venue. Food, decoration and staffing arrangements vary, so do not assume they are included—or excluded—based on the venue type. Ask what the quoted hire covers and what you will need to arrange separately.

These venues can host many kinds of gatherings, including nikah, Gaye Holud, Aqiqah, Milad, birthdays, seminars and family events. The right questions depend on your programme: a dinner needs room for tables and serving, while a ceremony may need rows of seats facing a stage.

Choose a Dhaka location your guests can reach

When you compare areas, start with where most guests will travel from and how they are likely to get there. A convenient address for one family may mean a long journey for another. These are some of the areas people commonly consider when looking for an event hall in Dhaka:

  • Satarkul Road and Badda — worth comparing if many guests live or work in this part of Dhaka. Check the route and likely travel time for your group.
  • Banani and Gulshan — may be convenient when many guests are based nearby. Compare travel plans as well as each venue’s quote.
  • Mohakhali — another area to consider when guests are coming from different parts of the city.
  • Mirpur, Uttara and Shahbagh — include these in your search if they are convenient starting points for your guests.
  • Keraniganj and other riverside areas — compare the journey carefully if most guests will travel from the north of Dhaka.

Compare the layout, not just the maximum capacity

A venue’s headline capacity may not match the setup you have in mind. Ask for the number of guests it can seat in your actual layout, and leave enough space for guests and serving staff to move comfortably.

  • How many guests fit in rows, and how many fit at round tables? For comparison, Our Mezban seats up to 200 in rows or around 120 at round tables.
  • Does the air conditioning cover the whole hall?
  • Is a stage available, and is decoration included in the quote?
  • Are sound and lighting included or arranged separately?
  • Is there a private room for the couple?
  • Is there a serving counter and enough space for your caterer to work?
  • Is separate seating available for women, and how is food served in that area?
  • Can you visit the hall and confirm the setup before booking?

Community center or hotel banquet hall?

The main difference is often how the venue packages the space, food and services. Some hotel banquet bookings combine the room and a set menu; community centers may quote room hire separately and let you make more of the arrangements yourself. Offers vary, so compare the written inclusions rather than relying on the venue label.

A bundled package can mean fewer suppliers to coordinate. A room-only booking may give you more choice over catering and setup, but you will need to confirm who handles each detail. Ask for the full cost and responsibilities in writing before deciding.

A simple checklist before you reserve

Once you have shortlisted a community hall in Dhaka, send the venue your preferred date, event type and estimated guest count. Then confirm the available setup, what is included, payment terms and cancellation policy. If you are choosing between Satarkul and Badda, compare the actual journey for your guests rather than the area name alone.

Popular dates can be booked in advance. If you have a date in mind, ask about availability early and check whether the venue requires a deposit to hold it.

Our Mezban is at 346 Purbo Podordiya, Satarkul Road, Dhaka 1212. The air-conditioned hall seats up to 200 in rows or around 120 at round tables, with a decorated stage, sound, lighting, a private room for the couple, catering space and separate seating for women. Share your date and guest count on WhatsApp to ask about availability.
